Buildings and Public Works: The Prime Minister lays down the terms and conditions for the classification of service providers

On 1 February 2016, the Prime Minister, Head of Government signed Order No. 016/PM to lay down the terms and conditions for the classification of service providers in the building and public works sector within the framework of the award of public contracts and agreements for the concession of public services.

The rules laid down in this Order aim at improving the quality of services provided in the Building and Public Works sector in Cameroon through the institution of a reliable and simplified mechanism for short listing efficient service providers in the various trades in this sector in public procurement.

It should be noted that the classification of service providers is based on the following sub-sectors and activities:

Building and urban development:

1.    Structural works

2.    Sub trades

3.    Building maintenance;

4.    General building

5.    Urban development

Public Works:

1.    Roads

2.    Engineering works

3.    Other infrastructure

Water and sanitation

1.    Potable water supply

2.    Boreholes

3.    Dikes and dams

4.    Sanitation and treatment stations

Energy

1.    Electricity

2.    Hydrocarbons

3.    Renewable energies

 

And all other activities related to the construction and public works sector and related activities.
It should be noted that the application file for the classification certificate should be sent to the Director General of the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency and examined by an ad hoc Commission attached to ARMP and chaired by a senior official appointed by the Prime Minister, Head of Government. The said Commission shall be made up of eight (8) members.


Eligible service providers shall receive a classification certificate valid for a period of two years.
